In Photoshop one of the features I found to be most useful was the Shadows and Highlights in the Adjustments menu. Is there and equivalent in Gimp? I have looked at some of the online tutorials regarding shadow/highlight adjustment but they seem fairly complex, using layers, and desaturation etc which is fine if you only have a couple of photos.
